They don’t call Cleveland The Forest City for nothing. Cleveland green spaces are wide open for walking, hiking, events and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Star Plaza and the Medical Mutual Plaza at Huron Point are welcome spots for people watching or a picnic snack. In summer they’re the gathering place for outdoor music and other entertainment. Srawbridge Park overlooks Browns Stadium and the Lakefront and is the site of many summer events.
The Cleveland Metroparks form an “emerald necklace” of parks across Greater Cleveland. In the system you’ll find great trails for walking or biking, picnic areas. Some parks feature horseback trails and tobogganing.
Or visit the Cuyahoga Valley National Park that combines cultural, historical, recreational, and natural activities along the 20-mile Towpath Trail that follows the historic Ohio & Erie Canal, and includes year-round programming.
Take a walk on the wild side at the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo, just a short ride from Downtown. Enjoy 168 acres and more than 3000 animals.
Or take a bike ride, a picnic and a dip in Lake Erie at nearby Edgewater Park, where there’s also fishing.
Cleveland’s skate park, located behind the Rock Hall has been a site for the Gravity Games and other extreme sporting events
Wendy Park , is a natural retreat in the heart of Cleveland with direct access to Lake Erie and views of the downtown skyline. The park also features volley ball courts and a indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar. It sits on Whiskey Island, where the Cuyahoga River joins Lake Erie.
